Escambia County Commission Invites Public Input On Perdido Key Beaches

Perdido Key, Fla. — (OBA) —   The Escambia County Board of County Commissioners is asking the public to share their experiences on the beaches of Perdido Key. County leaders want to hear directly from people who swim, fish, walk, or relax along the shoreline. They say personal stories can show how the beaches are used day to day. These accounts may help them better balance access, safety, and environmental protection.

To gather that information, the county has created an online form for residents and visitors to share their experiences. The form is now open for the public to complete, and officials are encouraging as many people as possible to participate. Beachgoers can describe how often they visit, where they like to go, and any problems or successes they have seen. They can also share what makes their favorite spots special and what they would like to see improved.

County leaders say this feedback is important because much of the coastline is managed by multiple agencies and regulations, which can affect how people enjoy the sand and water. Public comments can highlight issues such as limited parking, crowded access points, or confusing signage. They can also show which areas are working well and should be preserved as is. Officials believe that hearing directly from the community will give them a clearer picture than numbers alone.

At the same time, the county reminds visitors to follow existing beach rules that protect both people and the fragile coastal environment. Parking in legal spaces, staying off the dunes, and respecting posted signs remain key expectations for all beach users. Officials note that dunes protect the island from storms and provide important habitat for wildlife, so walking or driving on them is prohibited. By following these rules, beachgoers help keep the area safe and beautiful while they enjoy the shoreline.

Escambia County leaders say they want everyone who loves these beaches to feel included in future decisions. They hope the online form will be a simple way for families, longtime residents, and first-time visitors to have their voices heard. Sharing experiences now may help shape how the beaches are managed, accessed, and protected in the years ahead. The county urges anyone with a story or concern about Perdido Key beaches to take a few minutes to fill out the form and share their perspective.
