Registration Opens For 2026 Phinman Youth Triathlon In Gulf Shores
Young Athletes Invited to Swim, Bike, and Run In Annual Event

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — The 2026 Phinman Triathlon is now open for registration, offering young athletes a chance to compete in a fun, active event. The triathlon is designed for children ages 6 to 14 and focuses on building confidence through physical activity. Organizers say the event provides a supportive environment where kids can challenge themselves. It also promotes healthy habits while keeping the experience enjoyable.
The event is scheduled for Monday, May 25, at the David L. Bodenhamer Recreation Center in Gulf Shores. Activities will begin in the morning with two race divisions for age groups. Participants can register in advance or on race day.
The Phinman XL race will begin at 8:00 a.m. and is open to children ages 10 to 14. Competitors in this division will complete a 100-yard swim, a 2.8-mile bike ride, and a 0.83-mile run. The course is designed to challenge older participants while remaining accessible.
The Phinman Junior race will start at 8:45 a.m. for children ages 6 to 9. The shorter course includes a 50-yard swim, a 1.8-mile bike ride, and a 0.4-mile run. Organizers say the junior division offers younger participants a manageable way to experience a triathlon.
Registration is now open with an early fee of $40. Those who wait until race day can still register for $50. Officials encourage families to register early to secure a spot and streamline check-in on the day of the event.
In addition to the races, families can enjoy Kona Ice on site throughout the morning. Event organizers say the treat helps create a festive atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.
