Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Expect Excellence Music Department is bringing its classic rock tribute show, "Dream On Vol. 4," to the Orange Beach Performing Arts Center in late August. The production features musicians and singers from across the Gulf Coast. The show pays tribute to some of the most recognizable rock hits from the 1970s through the 1990s. It is designed for longtime classic rock fans and newer listeners alike.

Performances are scheduled for August 27, 28, and 29, with each show starting at 7 p.m. Doors will open one hour before showtime each night. The 20-song set list features well-known rock radio favorites. Songs associated with Prince, Michael Jackson, and Steve Perry are among the acts represented on stage.

Performers from around the Gulf Coast have been in rehearsals since the beginning of June. The 23-member cast includes dancers, vocalists, and instrumentalists. Expect Excellence Music Manager Caleb Pittman said the casting process went smoothly this year. "We had some extremely talented folks come out for auditions," Pittman said. "This was honestly one of the easiest years when it came to casting. Everyone fits their parts so well. I can't wait to see this cast hit the stage."

Pittman noted that the cast has embraced the spirit of the genre. The 23-member cast "has really leaned into the rock n' roll mindset," he said. While recreating rock legends is challenging, Pittman explained that the show focuses on the feeling behind the music. "We attempt to capture the nostalgia of these songs by playing all these iconic notes and melodies, and our singers provide their personal takes on the songs," he said.

Pittman described the experience as meaningful for audience members who saw these artists perform live decades earlier. He said that watching someone relive those memories — sometimes to the point of tears — makes the production especially rewarding. He summed up the show by saying, "not only will you experience incredible music performed by incredible artists, but you will also get to participate in all the fun!"

Performing Arts Center Manager Stacie Brane said the show taps into something lasting for many concertgoers. Classic rock holds such a "special place in so many people's hearts," she said. "It's great to see how much happiness and excitement 'Dream On' brings to the audience members. It's an experience you don't want to miss out on!" Brane encouraged people not to wait to buy tickets, especially those with a preference for a specific night.
