Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Alabama's 19th annual back-to-school sales tax holiday allows shoppers to buy school supplies, computers, books, and clothing without paying state sales tax. This event aims to help families save money on essential items for the upcoming school year.
The sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 19, and ends at midnight on Sunday, July 21. During this period, certain items will be exempt from Alabama's four percent state sales tax, though local sales taxes may still apply unless waived by local jurisdictions.
Typical tax-exempt items include clothing priced at $100 or less, school supplies costing up to $50, and computers and computer equipment priced at $750 or less.
