Mullet Toss

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Interstate Mullet Toss officially begins today on the white sands of Perdido Key. This annual gathering is widely known as the Gulf Coast’s greatest beach party. Thousands of visitors are traveling to the state line to watch the weekend festival. The iconic event features participants throwing dead fish from Florida into Alabama for charity.

The event runs from today, Friday, April 24, 2026, through Sunday, April 26, 2026. Daily tossing begins at 10 a.m. The toss is simple. Participants stand in a 10-foot circle in Florida and throw a dead mullet toward Alabama.

Children toss from 10 a.m. to noon each day. Adults toss from noon to 4 p.m. Flora-Bama lists an owners and celebrity toss at 4 p.m. daily. Awards are scheduled during the afternoon. Flora-Bama says children and adults 61 and older have awards at 2 p.m. each day. Adult awards are scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

People who want to throw pay $20, and tossers receive a T-shirt, according to Flora-Bama. Proceeds from the toss go to local charities. Charities include Local Youth Charities and local schools’ education and prevention programs through the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, Inc. More than $40,000 is raised each year.

Entry is separate from the toss fee. Flora-Bama says a cover charge begins at 9 a.m. Friday through Sunday. The venue says all ages may enter until 6 p.m., then entry is limited to ages 21 and older. Cover charge is $10 for daily entry for people 21 and older, $20 for ages 18 to 20, and free entry for ages 17 and younger. Membership cards are also accepted for Mullet Toss entry.

Registration is at the beach on the east side of the Toss Ring. Gloves and sand are not allowed on the mullet. The fish is thrown down a 200-foot course from the 10-foot circle. Tossers cannot step out during the throw. An out-of-bounds toss is a disqualification.

Parking will be extremely limited, and visitors are asked not to park at private condo residences or on the roadside. The venue suggests Uber, Lyft, or local cab service. The address is Flora-Bama Lounge & Oyster Bar, 17401 Perdido Key Drive, Pensacola, FL 32507.
