Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  Two Orange Beach softball standouts have earned some of the highest honors in Alabama high school sports. MK McMullan and Katie King were named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Super All-State Softball Team. The recognition places them among the state's top players, regardless of classification. Their selections add to another successful season for the Orange Beach Makos.

The Alabama Sports Writers Association announced its 2026 All-State softball teams on June 11. The Super All-State Team consists of only 10 players from across Alabama and represents the top performers from all classifications. Voting was conducted by sports writers from around the state.

McMullan, a sophomore pitcher, was also named the Class 4A Pitcher of the Year. She earned First Team All-State honors after helping lead Orange Beach to another state championship. The Makos captured their sixth consecutive Alabama state softball title in 2026.

King, a senior infielder, was named Class 4A Player of the Year. She also earned First Team All-State honors and was named to the Super All-State Team. Orange Beach nearly swept the major Class 4A awards, underscoring the strength of one of Alabama's most successful softball programs.

The pair helped anchor a Makos team that maintained its dominance on the state stage. King finished the season with a .536 batting average and helped Orange Beach secure another championship. McMullan's performance on the mound made her one of the state's most effective pitchers and earned statewide recognition beyond Class 4A.

According to the Alabama Sports Writers Association, McMullan was named to the Super All-State Team as a pitcher, while King was selected as an infielder. They joined Saraland pitcher Myleigh Dobbins as the only players from the Mobile-area region named to the elite squad.

Orange Beach City Schools congratulated both athletes after the announcement. Their selections add to a growing list of honors for the Makos program, which has become one of Alabama's most decorated softball programs.

For Orange Beach, the Super All-State selections serve as another reminder of the program's sustained success and of the impact McMullan and King have had on it. With two players in the state's top 10, the Makos once again demonstrated why they remain a powerhouse in Alabama high school softball.
