Perdido Chamber Opens Applications for 2026 Leadership Development Program
Participants will attend monthly sessions covering government, tourism, and more
Perdido Key, Fla. — (OBA) — The Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its Leadership Perdido Key program, an initiative to develop current and future community leaders. The program brings together professionals from diverse industries and backgrounds to learn about the issues, opportunities, and organizations shaping the Perdido Key area. Participants gain firsthand knowledge through workshops, presentations, tours, and community-focused projects. Chamber leaders say the goal is to build a stronger network of informed and engaged citizens.
The 2026-27 Leadership Perdido Key class is scheduled to begin with an opening reception and class photo on Aug. 24, 2026. Monthly sessions will run through January and cover topics such as local government, tourism, the environment, the military, and education and healthcare. Graduation is scheduled for the chamber’s annual dinner on Jan. 19, 2027.
According to the chamber, the program is designed for both emerging and established leaders. Participants represent a range of professions and experiences, reflecting the Perdido Key community's diversity. Organizers say the curriculum combines classroom instruction with hands-on experiences to help participants better understand the region and the challenges it faces.
Leadership Perdido Key also features guest speaker presentations and opportunities to work on projects that benefit the community. The chamber says these experiences help participants strengthen leadership skills while building relationships with other business and civic leaders. The program encourages collaboration and community involvement as part of its overall mission.
The chamber launched the program in 2024 and has continued to expand it since the success of its first classes. Alumni have described the experience as an opportunity to learn how local government, nonprofit organizations, tourism agencies, public safety departments, and other community institutions operate. Participants have also cited networking opportunities and a more in-depth understanding of the area as major benefits.
The chamber says Leadership Perdido Key is designed to cultivate a new generation of community-minded leaders prepared to serve, collaborate, and contribute to the region's future. Similar leadership programs have long operated in the Pensacola area to increase civic engagement and develop informed community leaders.
Applications and additional information are available through the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce. Chamber officials encourage business professionals, nonprofit leaders, public servants, and residents interested in community involvement to apply. More information is available on the chamber’s
