Orange Beach Middle and High Wins Safe School Award Second Year in a Row
Alabama Attorney General Honors Campus For Strong Safety Practices

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach Middle and High School has again earned statewide recognition for its commitment to student safety and preparedness. The school was named a recipient of the Alabama Attorney General’s Safe Schools Award for the second year in a row. The award honors schools that show outstanding dedication to creating a secure and supportive learning environment. The achievement highlights the continued teamwork among students, staff, and local safety partners.
The Alabama Attorney General’s Safe Schools Initiative involves a detailed four-phase evaluation process. Schools are reviewed for their emergency plans, staff training, cooperation with local law enforcement, and use of safety technology. Orange Beach Middle and High School stood out in every category of review.
The Alabama Attorney General’s Office announced the 2025 Safe Schools Award will be presented to Orange Beach Middle and High School on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The recognition places the coastal school among a select group of campuses across Alabama committed to student security and preparedness.
“Receiving the Safe Schools Award for the second year in a row speaks volumes about the commitment of our staff, students, and community partners,” said Principal Chris Shaw. “Safety is not a one-time achievement; it’s an ongoing priority. I’m incredibly proud of the intentional work our team does every day to ensure Orange Beach Middle & High School remains a safe place for learning.”
The school’s repeated success reflects its proactive approach to emergency preparedness and its strong relationships with law enforcement and emergency responders. Staff members participate in routine safety training, and students are included in regular drills and exercises to strengthen awareness and readiness.
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall praised the winners of this year’s Safe Schools Initiative. “Through the Alabama Safe Schools Initiative, we are proud to recognize schools that are leading the way with innovative, proactive approaches to student safety,” Marshall said. “Their dedication sets a powerful example, and I look forward to continuing to highlight effective school safety strategies for administrators, school resource officers, parents, and students across Alabama.”
The award continues to affirm Orange Beach Middle and High School’s leadership in creating a safe and positive culture focused on care, preparedness, and collaboration.
