Orange Beach Makes Election Results Official After Canvassing Meeting
Seven of 13 provisional ballots were counted during Tuesday canvassing session

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — The Orange Beach City Council officially certified the results of the August 26 municipal election during a special canvassing meeting Tuesday. The meeting was held at noon at City Hall as required by Alabama law.
Incumbent Mayor Tony Kennon's victory over challenger Jeffrey Boyd was confirmed with 1,901 votes to Boyd's 1,287 votes. Kennon won with 59.64% of the vote. (See remaining results below.)
The council examined 13 provisional ballots during the meeting. Only seven of these ballots were eligible to be counted. Six ballots were rejected for various reasons. One ballot was thrown out because the voter cast it in the wrong district. Five other ballots were rejected because the voters were not registered at the time of the election.
The additional provisional ballots did not change any of the election results. All winning margins remained the same after the final count.
For City Council races, Jack Robertson won Place 1, Ginger Harrelson took Place 2, Jerry Johnson secured Place 3, and Robert Stuart won Place 5. Alabama state law requires municipal governing bodies to canvass election results. This process must happen on the first Tuesday following an election at noon.
The canvassing meeting allows officials to examine provisional ballots and verify final vote counts. Once completed, certificates of election are given to winning candidates.
The swearing-in ceremony for newly elected officials is scheduled for November 3, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at the Community Center. This will mark the start of new terms for Orange Beach's elected leaders.
The election results are now final and official. Orange Beach voters have chosen their leadership for the next term in city government.
