5:00 pm Update:
Orange Beach, Ala. - (OBA) - At 7:27pm the City of Orange Beach Fire Department posted on Facebook that they were looking for a missing swimmer in the Gulf of Mexico in the 26000 block of Perdido Beach Blvd., near Turquoise Place Condos.
The missing swimmer is a 14 year old black male wearing blue shorts. The father of the child was transported to the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center for water inhalation.
The South Baldwin Regional Medical Center saw 5 or 6 near drowning victims on Saturday due to the dangerous rip currents.
First responders moved from a water-based search to a land based search as darkness fell. Crews continued the search until midnight. At 6:30am this morning first responders resumed their search and patrols will continue throughout the day.
Orange Beach Fire Dept. asks that if you're in the area and you see anything or have any information to call 911.
Double Red Flags will continue flying on the beaches today. Double Red Flags mean the Gulf of Mexico is closed to swimmers due to dangerous rip currents.
