Hundreds Of Miles Of Baldwin County Roads Get Fresh Striping
New reflectors and striping help guide drivers day and night.

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Baldwin County drivers may not always notice them, but painted lines and reflectors play a key role in keeping traffic moving safely. Over the past year, county crews have worked across hundreds of miles of roads to refresh these features. These updates are part of a broader effort to maintain roadway safety. Officials say the improvements help drivers stay aware of lanes and road edges.
The work was completed through Baldwin County’s roadway maintenance program over the past year, including projects finished in 2025. Crews focused on roads along the county’s 1,550 miles of county-maintained routes. The upgrades targeted areas where markings had faded or become harder to see.
In 2025 alone, Highway Department crews added 211 miles of yellow centerline striping and 192 miles of white edge line striping. They also installed 13,710 square feet of durable pavement markings for high-traffic areas. In addition, crews placed 5,410 raised pavement reflectors to improve visibility.
Officials said these improvements are necessary because road markings wear down over time. Sunlight, rain, and constant traffic can cause paint to fade and reflectors to lose effectiveness. Regular maintenance ensures that drivers can clearly see lane boundaries and road edges.
While the work may seem minor, transportation experts say these details make a significant difference. Clear striping and reflectors help guide drivers during both daytime and nighttime travel and can also reduce confusion on busy or unfamiliar roads.
County leaders say the maintenance program will continue as part of ongoing safety efforts. Crews plan to monitor road conditions and update road markings as needed. The goal is to keep Baldwin County roads safe, clearly marked, and easy to navigate for all drivers.
