Hurricane Preparedness Expo in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  The City of Gulf Shores is preparing to host its annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo to help residents prepare for storm season. The event will bring together local agencies, vendors, and city departments. The program is designed to provide helpful information about hurricane preparedness in one place. City officials say that preparation can reduce risks to lives and property.

The expo is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, 1930 West 2nd Street in Gulf Shores. The event is free and open to the public.

City leaders say the expo provides residents with tools and information they may need before, during, and after a storm. Vendors will showcase products and services for hurricane preparedness. Attendees can also speak directly with experts about safety and planning.

Participating groups include Baldwin County EMA, Baldwin EMC, Smart Home America, Disaster Smart, and Paris Ace Hardware. Other vendors include Island Enclosures, Riviera Utilities, Gulf Shores Utilities, Crowder Gulf, Simpson Strong Tie, Coastal Shutters and Maintenance, and Gulf Shores Electric.

City Emergency Management Coordinator Brandan Franklin said the event is useful for both new and experienced residents. “A vital part of being prepared is understanding what resources are available,” Franklin said. “This event is designed to be a one-stop shop for helpful tips and to introduce attendees to the many products and services available to help protect families and their property.”

Local first responders and emergency agencies will also be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance. Several city departments will be available to speak with residents about services and storm response efforts.

Residents can also obtain or update their 2025-2026 hurricane decals at the event. Proof of residency or property ownership and a valid driver’s license are required. Acceptable documents include a deed, lease, or utility bill showing the property address.

Each resident may purchase up to three hurricane decals for five dollars each. City officials encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity while attending the expo. Additional information about hurricane decals is available on the city’s website.

Officials say the event aims to improve community readiness as hurricane season continues. They encourage residents to attend and learn how to better protect their homes and families.
