Gulf Shores High School Soccer #1 in State

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The Gulf Shores High School boy's soccer team made history on Saturday, winning their first-ever state championship with a 5-0 victory over Elmore County in the AHSAA 5A finals. The Dolphins, led by head coach Danny Norton, capped off an impressive 23-6 season with the dominant performance at the John Hunt Soccer Complex in Huntsville.

Gulf Shores scored twice in the first four minutes to set the tone, with goals from Jasper Calvert and Ronan Webbeach. Talon Galvan, Lucas Pruett and Bryan Nunez also found the back of the net for the Dolphins, who controlled possession throughout the match. Calvert and Webbeach each added an assist, while Kole Wade, Carlos Diaz and Jerome Moran also contributed assists.

Goalkeepers Brayden Glosson and Kyle Simmons combined for the shutout, as Gulf Shores limited Elmore County (12-4-1) to just four shots on the night. The Dolphins finished with a 23-6 advantage in shots.

"This team has worked so hard all season and they deserve this championship," said Norton. "I'm so proud of the way they played tonight and all year. This is a special group that made history for our school."

The state title comes just hours after the Gulf Shores girls team fell in their 5A semifinal match. The women's team is the State Champion 5A Runner-Up for the second year in a row.
