Foley Donates Space for Toys for Tots

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) —  The city of Foley is stepping up for South Baldwin County children this holiday season by donating space for the 2026 Toys for Tots campaign. The South Baldwin County Toys for Tots campaign will use the first floor of the former Foley library building for its annual drive. The campaign collects new, unwrapped toys for children in need during the Christmas season. In 2025, the drive distributed toys to about 5,000 children in Foley and surrounding communities.

The Foley City Council approved the agreement on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026. The building will be available to Toys for Tots at no charge through Dec. 31, 2026. The former library is located on East Laurel Avenue, next to Foley City Hall.

"The city is very happy to be able to support Toys for Tots," said Cian Harrison, Foley executive director for general government and administration. "They needed a place to organize and distribute toys to local children, and the city was able to respond quickly and provide a space."

City Councilman Tim Lower first connected with Toys for Tots representatives who were searching for a location for the 2026 campaign. Lower said he and Foley officials were happy to help with the effort.

“Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps League volunteers make sure no child in South Baldwin goes without a Christmas," Lower said. "When they needed space, Team Foley responded quickly, and I'm proud we could help organize and distribute gifts for local families. I encourage everyone to support the drive by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at designated collection points across the community this season.”

The South Baldwin County Toys for Tots Campaign is sponsored by the Cpl. Joseph Whitehead Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Each holiday season, the campaign organizes and distributes donated toys to families with children in need.

The former library building housed the Foley Public Library from 1984 until July 2026. The Foley Community Library relocated to its current location on East Orange Avenue in August 2026. The city of Foley is now developing renovation plans to convert the building into offices and other municipal government uses.
