Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – On the evening of April 6th, 2024, Gulf Shores Police Department officers were dispatched to an accident scene on the 1000 block of East Canal Drive, involving a collision between a motorcycle and a car. The incident, which occurred at approximately 10:05 PM, resulted in serious injuries to the motorcyclist, necessitating immediate airlift from the scene.

The car's driver was not injured in the accident. Preliminary investigations, bolstered by evidence collected at the location and accounts from witnesses, suggest that the mishap unfolded when the motorcycle, heading east on Canal Drive, veered into the opposing lane, striking the westward-traveling car.

Tragically, 48-year-old Steven E. Hodo of Gulf Shores, AL, the motorcyclist, succumbed to his injuries upon reaching the hospital.

The Gulf Shores Police Department is actively seeking further information or eyewitness accounts of the accident and encourages anyone with insights to contact them at 251-968-2431.
