Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Gulf Shores Junior City Council invites businesses, organizations, churches, civic groups, schools, families, and individuals to sponsor a decorated Christmas tree for the group's inaugural Christmas Tree Tinsel Trail at Sims Park. The festive holiday display will feature a trail of uniquely decorated trees north of the Kids Park. Each sponsorship is $100 and includes a Christmas tree and a personalized recognition sign bearing the sponsor's name. All proceeds will benefit the Angel Tree Program through the Christian Service Center.

The registration deadline is Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026. Trees donated by Coastal Exposures Landscape will be installed by City of Gulf Shores Public Works crews. Sponsors may decorate their trees from Nov. 23 to Nov. 29, 2026. The Tinsel Trail will open to the public on Monday, Nov. 30, 2026, and remain on display through Saturday, Jan. 3, 2027.

Funds raised through the sponsorship program will enable Junior City Council students to purchase Christmas gifts for local children in need via the Angel Tree Program. The Christian Service Center administers the program. A donation of trees from Coastal Exposures Landscape ensures that all $100 in sponsorship proceeds will go directly toward gift purchases.

"This project combines community spirit, creativity, and service," said Rivers Watley, Gulf Shores Junior City Council member. "We hope to fill Sims Park with festive displays that families can enjoy while also helping make Christmas brighter for local children through the Angel Tree Program."

Whether representing a business, church, nonprofit, club, neighborhood group, or family, each sponsored tree will contribute to the holiday display. Community members are encouraged to bring their own decorations and express their holiday themes. Tree sponsorship is limited, and organizers urge interested sponsors to register early.
