Graham Creek Announces Closures During ASA Archery Tournament Week
Most areas are expected to reopen at noon on Sunday.
Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Graham Creek Nature Preserve is preparing for a major archery event and has announced details of a temporary closure during the tournament. The preserve will host the ASA Archery Tournament and anticipates increased activity during that week. Officials say the changes are aimed at ensuring the safety of both visitors and participants. Visitors are advised to plan ahead before arriving.
The ASA Archery Tournament is scheduled to run from today, Monday, Feb. 16, through Sunday, Feb. 22. Due to the tournament, several areas of the preserve will have limited access during the week. The closures are temporary and will differ by area.
All hiking and walking trails across the preserve will be closed starting Tuesday, Feb. 17, and will remain closed until Sunday, Feb. 22, at 12:00 p.m. The preserve stated that this includes all hiking and walking trails on the property.
Several disc golf courses will close at different times during the tournament. The Plant Course will close starting Monday, Feb. 16, and reopen Sunday at noon. The Prairie Course will close starting Tuesday, Feb. 17, and is also expected to reopen Sunday at noon.
The Preserve Course will close starting Wednesday, Feb. 18, and is scheduled to reopen Sunday at noon. The Pecan Hollow Course will stay open during the tournament. The preserve said trails and disc golf courses will reopen Sunday at noon.
The playground area off Stan Mahoney Drive will stay open during tournament days. However, the preserve warned visitors to expect heavy traffic in that area while the tournament is in progress. The preserve thanked the public for its patience and cooperation during the event and said the goal is to keep everyone safe.
