Two Indicted on Aggravated Child Abuse Charges After Death of Infant in Foley
Children were found living in a retail store's storage room, authorities say

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Two individuals face felony charges following the death of an infant and the abuse of another child in Foley. A Baldwin County Grand Jury indicted Tocora Monaye Brown, 22, and Larry Cordero Lawson, 30, on two counts each of aggravated child abuse. Both were arrested this week and remain in custody.
The case dates back to November 2023, when Foley Police officers and detectives responded to a call at Baldwin Health. Medical staff reported that a 10-month-old child had died from a head injury. Staff also noted evidence of a prior head injury.
The investigation took a disturbing turn when authorities discovered that the deceased child and her brother had been living in a store's storage room. The brother was found with severe burns and signs of a previous head injury. He was placed in the care of the Department of Human Resources.
Brown is the mother of both children and was an employee at the business where they had been living. Lawson owned that business.
The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Street Crimes Unit arrested both suspects earlier this week. The surviving child remains under DHR supervision.
The Foley Police Department thanked several agencies for their assistance with the case. These agencies include the Baldwin County Coroner's Office, Baldwin County District Attorney's Office, Baldwin County Department of Human Resources, Alabama Department of Forensic Science, and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.
