Heatwave Alert: Unprecedented Temps Predicted

Excessive heat warning today for the Gulf Coast

Orange Beach, Ala. - (OBA) - The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued an Excessive Heat WARNING for the southern area, where the heat index could approach 115. Over the coming days, the heat indices are expected to soar to potentially dangerous levels, ranging from 104 to 112 inland and 110 to 115 near the coast. This trend could even intensify later in the week, with indices predicted to rise to 110-115 area wide and possibly 115 to 120 closer to the coast. Amidst this extreme heat, the public is urged to take precautions such as limiting outdoor activities, staying hydrated, using sun protection, and not leaving anyone or pets inside vehicles.

From the National Weather Service - Mobile:

Today's forecast: HOT!

Tomorrow's Forecast: Probably hot but rain may save us.

Thursdays Forecast: The face of the sun! No Hope just send water and towels.

An Excessive Heat WARNING has been issued for the southern part of the area where the heat index may approach 115.

Heat indices today will climb to 104 to 112 inland and 110 to 115 near the coast. A few afternoon showers and storms may provide relief, or just add more moisture and make it stickier. Wednesday could be hot as well, but a round of storm may save us from baking.

Thursday looks grueling and Friday not any better. Heat indices will become highly dangerous as they climb to 110-115 area wide and possibly 115 to 120 closer to the coast. I'm sweating just thinking about it. Jokes aside, this is some serious heat even for here.

Please take the heat seriously. Even if you think you are used to it, this is still dangerous. Limit outdoor activities and stay hydrated. At the beach? Utilize the umbrella and limit time in direct sunlight.

DO NOT LEAVE anyone or pets inside vehicles for any length of time.
