Council to Consider Buying F-350 and F-150 for Departments
RV rentals and golf cart rules get first readings

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach is looking to spend a little more than $87,000 buying two pickup trucks for city departments. One request is for an F-350 Ford to be used at the Sportsplex. Another for a Ford F-150 pickup will be for the Utilities Department if approved by the council.
The council will consider the purchases at a joint regular/work session on Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. in council chambers at city hall. There will also be a meeting of the Solid Waste Authority on the same day starting at 4:50 p.m.
The four-by-four F-350 crew cab truck will cost $49,116, and the crew cab F-150 will cost the city $37,380. Both will be bought from Stivers Ford through the state bids process.
During the regular session, the council will also discuss:
- Authorizing payment for goods and services from Oct. 9-22 for $2.9 million.
- A resolution authorizing an agreement with the Baldwin County Interoperability Communications System for police and fire protection.
- A special liquor license for Orange Beach Hotel Investments for Springhill Suites Orange Beach on beach road east of Doc’s Seafood and Steak.
- Authorizing an amendment to the grant from the National Audubon Society supporting a conservation code enforcement position in the Coastal Resources Department to monitor activities of birds in the city totaling $83,261 over three years ending in September of 2026.
- Spending $32,351 to buy office furniture for the police department.
- Authorizing an agreement with Baldwin EMC for an underground easement for electrical lines near the water tower on State Route 161.
- Paying for legal fees to Galloway Wettermark Rutens and Car, Allison, Oliver & Sission.
- Authorizing the return of the Merry Memories Tinsel Trail during the holidays at Waterfront Park.
- An agreement with Elberta to use safety barricades for the 2025 German Sausage Festival on October 25.
- The first reading of an ordinance amendment on “recreational vehicle rentals” from residences in the city. There will also be a first reading on an ordinance amendment regarding golf cart usage in the city.
During the work session, the council will also discuss:
- Declaring defibrillators owned by the city as surplus and donating them to the Alabama Charter Fishing Association.
- A contract with JJPR from Daphne for public relations and marketing services.
- A contract with Heidi Lemon for performance dance instruction for the city’s production of “Guys and Dolls.”
- A contract with Brett Blevins for tennis racket stringing services.
- Reappointing Ryan Beebe and McGee Scarbrough to the Board of Adjustments serving through September of 2028.
- Setting a public hearing date for an ordinance change to the Turquoise Village planned unit development to build Jones Duplexes on 7.9 acres east of the Turquoise Place parking garage. Plans call for 10 duplexes and 18 single-family homes for a total of 38 units. The suggested day was Nov. 18.
