Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  Work is underway at the Orange Beach Veterans Memorial as crews prepare a new section for engraved tribute bricks. The project is located in front of the memorial at the Municipal Complex. City leaders say the expansion will offer residents another way to honor military service. The effort is part of a broader plan to recognize veterans in a lasting, visible way.

In early April, the city launched a commemorative brick program in conjunction with the America250Alabama initiative. The program allows individuals to purchase a personalized brick for $200. Each brick can honor any U.S. Armed Forces veteran, living or deceased. For more information, including the online form, go to https://www.orangebeachal.gov/Veterans-Memorial. 

The bricks measure 4 by 8 inches and are gray, with black, epoxy-filled engraved lettering. The new section is near the main entrance along the sidewalk on Orange Beach Boulevard. As orders come in, the plain bricks currently installed will be replaced with engraved bricks.

City officials say the program is open to anyone who wishes to recognize a veteran’s service. Requests can be submitted online or in person at Orange Beach City Hall on Orange Beach Boulevard. Additional details and the submission form are available on the city’s website.

The city has also scheduled a public event to mark progress at the site. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Veterans Memorial is set for Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, at 9 a.m. Officials say the event will underscore the importance of honoring those who served.
