Summer Youth Program Teaches Orange Beach Teens About Work and Money
Lunch and Learn event gives teens a crash course in personal finance

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Teens in Orange Beach are getting life skills along with their summer jobs this year. The city’s summer youth work program hosted a Lunch and Learn at the Orange Beach Community Center. During the event, students enjoyed pizza while learning about money management. The program is designed to mix fun activities with real-world education.
The Lunch and Learn was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Jill Goddard from Truist Bank led the session and taught students about checking and savings accounts. She explained the importance of building good credit scores for the future.
This is the eighth summer for the city’s youth work program. The program is open to 14- and 15-year-olds and runs throughout the summer. Teens are placed in various city departments to gain hands-on work experience.

City leaders say the program helps teens gain confidence and learn responsibility. By the end of the summer, students leave with skills to help them after high school.
