Parrot Head group moving annual event from Key West to Gulf Shores

Parrot Heads flocking to the gulf coast of Alabama in October

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – For over 25 years, the "Meeting of the Minds" Parrot Head group has held their annual party in Key West, Florida. Now the group that has honored Jimmy Buffett's music for a quarter of a century is moving the event to Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Between October 24th to the 29th, about 2,500 Parrot Heads from around the nation will be flocking to the beach at Gulf Shores to hear live music from beach style musicians, both local and national. Events for the group will take place at LuLu's, Flora-Bama, Zeke's, The Gulf, Burro Azul, Picnic Beach, Live Bait and the headlining venue of the Hangout. (See the schedule below.)

Parrot Heads in Paradise, Inc. is a Not-For-Profit Corporation. Its purpose is to assist in community and environmental concerns and provide various social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy Buffett and the tropical lifestyle he personifies.

David Zislin, who represents Hangout Hospitality the event host, stated that he wanted to bring the event to Gulf Shores for the entire community to enjoy. He added that the Parrot Head tradition has a history in the area and that the event could become an annual gathering.

Jimmy Buffett has had a rich history on the Alabama Gulf Coast, from the Flora-Bama to his sister Lucy's LuLu's in Gulf Shores to other venues that are no longer around, including the Original Margaritaville and Kenny Stabler's End Zone. Of course, he's played numerous concerts at the Wharf and with CMT put on a memorable benefit concert on the Gulf Shores Public Beach to assist in the oil spill recovery.

General Registration for the entirety of our annual convention is $172.22. Attendees exclusively get 40-plus hours of great music in a wonderful location for less than the price of sitting in an arena seat for two hours to see one act. MOTM has also added several outside venues this year. To use the Event Shuttle one must be registered for the event, which is available for an additional $75.
