Orange Beach to Observe National Day of Prayer Thursday
The Event begins at noon under the tent at the Coastal Art Center

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Residents and visitors are invited to join in a special event honoring the National Day of Prayer. The event will take place at the Coastal Arts Center in Orange Beach under the tent near Wolf Bay. Several local church pastors will lead prayers during the gathering.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 1 at noon. Community members of all faiths are encouraged to attend. Organizers hope for a large turnout to promote unity and hope. The peaceful waterfront setting offers a peaceful and reflective backdrop.
The National Day of Prayer was first established in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress. It was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan updated the law to fix the date. The first Thursday of May is now the official observance.
Since it began, every U.S. president has issued a proclamation supporting the day. The tradition invites Americans to come together in prayer. Whether at events or privately, many take the time to reflect. Organizers say this year's observance continues that meaningful legacy.
