Public hearing set for Margaritaville and other projects

Orange Beach City Hall

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Wharf Landing and Intracoastal Investments will go before the Orange Beach Planning Commission at its Nov. 12 meeting to ask to divide 108 acres on the north side of the Intracoastal Waterway into six separate lots.

In August, it was announced that the company, owned by The Wharf owner Art Favre, was planning to put a Margaritaville resort across from the original complex next to the former toll bridge.

“Margaritaville Resort Orange Beach is set to break ground this fall with construction of the Waterfront District beginning summer of 2025 and the first phase of the resort opening in 2027,” a release from The Wharf on Aug. 1 stated. “The full resort is set to be complete by spring of 2029.”

The commission will also have a public hearing on the development. The planning commission will meet in a work session at 3 p.m. on Nov. 12 followed by the regular session at 4 p.m. in council chambers at city hall.

During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:

  • A request from Bailey Shivers for a favorable recommendation to the city council for the final planned unit development for Roscoe Road Townhouses planned on the west side of Roscoe Road and 700 feet north of its intersection with the Foley Beach Express. Shivers wants to build a multifamily complex with 60 units. There will also be a public hearing on the project.
  • A request from Hercules Investments for approval of a site plan to build six office buildings with parking and a common area on 2.6 acres on Commercial Park Drive.
  • An item for a major subdivision for KO Investments for the Abbey Road PUD at the southwest corner of Canal Road and Captain Trent Lane was submitted but did not meet the second deadline to be discussed in the meeting. The developers seek to subdivide 3.7 acres into 33 lots for single-family residences.
