Purple Star Designation is for the Support of Military Families

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach Middle High School (OBMHS) has been recognized as a 2024 Purple Star School. This honor was awarded by the Alabama State Board of Education in a ceremony held on April 11th, reflecting the school’s dedicated efforts in supporting military students and their families.

The Purple Star designation is awarded to schools demonstrating a significant commitment to students and families connected to our nation's military. OBMHS is among seventy-five schools in Alabama to receive this honor, acknowledging their outstanding support and commitment to military-connected students' educational and emotional needs.

The award ceremony occurred at the Gordon Persons Building Auditorium, where the Purple Star Banner was presented to OBMHS Principal Chris Shaw. This recognition underscores the hard work and dedication of the staff and administration at OBMHS in creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment for all students, particularly those from military backgrounds.

"We are immensely proud to be honored as a Purple Star School and will continue to uphold our commitment to the military families in our community," said Superintendent Randy Wilkes of Orange Beach City Schools. "This recognition reaffirms our dedication to ensuring that every student, especially those from military families, receive the support and resources they need to succeed in our schools."
