Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) —  The City of Orange Beach Parks and Recreation Department has announced a temporary closure of the Edward H. Carroll Sr. Kids Park Playground. The closure is part of an ongoing improvement project the community has requested. City officials say the project is nearly complete and look forward to finishing the work. The closure is expected to last only a few days and will allow crews to complete the final installation phase.

The Playground will be closed from Tuesday, September 15, through Friday, September 18, 2026, to allow workers to install new shade sails. The shade sail poles were installed in August, so the upcoming installation is the final step in the project. Families and visitors who plan to use the park are asked to plan accordingly during those four days.

While the park is closed, drivers in the area will also notice changes in nearby traffic patterns. The southbound exit to the Kids Park and Waterfront Park area will be closed while the Orange Beach Public Works Department replaces concrete in that section. All traffic will need to exit through the Art Center area during that time.

The City of Orange Beach Parks and Recreation Department apologized for any inconvenience the closure may cause. Officials noted that the shade addition was made in response to community requests for more shade options at the Kids Park. The project reflects the city's effort to improve outdoor amenities for residents and visitors alike.
