Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — More than one hundred people gathered this past Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of the Orange Beach Shooting Complex. Located off the Beach Express at 23172 Russian Road, the brand-new facility marks a major step for recreational shooting in the city. Community leaders, residents, and the high school shooting team came together to mark the occasion with a unique opening day ceremony. Many attendees described the event as both meaningful and exciting for Orange Beach.

The shooting complex currently features a Skeet and Trap facility with five fields, giving both newcomers and experienced shooters a place to practice and compete. Officials said plans are already in development to add a rifle range, which would expand opportunities for events and training in the future. The facility officially opened to the public the same day as the ceremony and will operate Thursday through Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.

Membership options are now available, and pricing has been set for both members and non-members. For Skeet and Trap, non-members pay $15 per round, while members pay $12. First-time customers will need to pay an additional $2.50 card fee. More information can be found on the
city’s website or by calling the facility directly at 251-923-9132.

During the opening ceremony, Councilman Jerry Johnson delivered the invocation before several local officials shared remarks. Those speakers included Councilman Jeff Silvers, Councilwoman Annette Mitchell, and Mayor Tony Kennon. The program concluded with words from Orange Beach High School Shooting Team Coach Tim Harry. He expressed his optimism for the new facility, noting that the community now has a place shooters will be drawn to.

Instead of a traditional ribbon-cutting, city leaders and visitors watched a special ceremony led by the State Champion Shooting Team. Team members hit clay targets infused with powder that burst dramatically when struck, marking the official start of the complex in a memorable way.

Although this new facility is separate from the city’s pistol range, shooters still have access to that option as well. The pistol range is managed by the Orange Beach Police Department and is open to the public every other Saturday. Its updated schedule can be found on the
OBPD section of the city website.

The city extended its thanks to everyone who attended the opening, calling it a major milestone for Orange Beach. Leaders also recognized the Coastal Resources team for their hard work in creating what officials described as a top-notch recreational facility. With the ability to host tournaments, city leaders believe the new complex will bring more opportunities for local shooters while also attracting visitors to the area.
