Programs will take place across multiple locations inside the park.
Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — Gulf State Park is preparing to host a full day of educational programs focused on sea turtle conservation. The event is designed for visitors of all ages. Organizers say the goal is to raise awareness and offer hands-on learning opportunities. Activities will take place at several locations throughout the park.
The early celebration of World Sea Turtle Day is scheduled for June 13. Programs will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Throughout the day, visitors can attend multiple sessions covering various aspects of sea turtle life, conservation, and history.
Planned activities include sea turtle rescue demonstrations at the pier. Guests will also have opportunities to learn how to protect nesting sites alongside Share the Beach volunteers. Additional sessions will provide basic education on sea turtles at the Nature Center.
The event will also delve into the deeper history of sea turtles in the region. A program at the Learning Campus will examine the archaeological record of sea turtles. Organizers say this session will provide a broader understanding of how these animals have been part of the Gulf Coast ecosystem for centuries.
Several sessions are designed specifically for younger visitors. The Little Park Pals program will introduce children to sea turtles through interactive learning. Officials say these programs aim to inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Park officials encourage participants to register in advance for each program. They also advise visitors to carefully review event details. Activities will be held in various areas throughout the park, and locations may vary by session.
