City of Foley Offering Hurricane Preparedness Expo

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) —  The city of Foley is hosting its first-ever Hurricane Preparedness Expo this month. The free event will bring together local businesses, emergency response agencies, and city departments. It is designed to help residents develop or update their emergency plans. The expo is open to both new Gulf Coast arrivals and longtime residents seeking to sharpen their storm readiness.

The Hurricane Preparedness Expo is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held at the Foley Civic Center, 407 E. Laurel Ave., Foley. Admission is free for all community members.

The event will provide practical information and preparedness resources in a single, easy-to-access location. Attendees will be able to connect directly with local experts and learn about the tools and services available. The goal is to make hurricane planning more approachable for everyone in the community.

Thurston Bullock, public safety director for the city of Foley, highlighted why community preparation matters. "Preparedness is one of the most effective tools we have when it comes to protecting lives and property," Bullock said. "The Hurricane Preparedness Expo gives residents the opportunity to connect directly with trusted local experts, learn what resources are available, and make a plan before a storm is approaching."

Bullock added that the city wants attendees to walk away feeling more confident heading into hurricane season. "We want everyone to leave better prepared and more confident heading into hurricane season," he said. The expo reflects the city's ongoing commitment to helping residents stay safe during severe weather.

City officials say the expo is part of a broader effort to build a more resilient Foley community. By bringing local resources and expertise together under one roof, the city aims to lower barriers to hurricane preparedness. The event is free and open to the public.
