Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — The Gulf Shores Public Library has achieved a significant milestone with its Helping Hands community service initiative. The group recently delivered its first baskets of handmade crocheted animals to Gulf Shores Fire Rescue and the Gulf Shores Police Department. These soft toys will now be placed in local emergency vehicles to comfort children during emergencies. The thoughtful effort demonstrates how creativity and compassion can come together to make a genuine difference in the community.

The delivery took place earlier this month as part of Helping Hands’ ongoing effort to support first responders and young residents. The program officially began in 2025 and quickly drew interest from locals eager to use their skills to help others. Each crocheted animal demonstrates the talent, time, and care of a volunteer working to provide comfort to children affected by fires, accidents, and other emergencies.
