Gulf Shores Hosts Hurricane Preparedness Expo for Residents
Local experts to offer storm tips and resources

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – As the 2025 hurricane season approaches, the City of Gulf Shores is urging residents to take proactive steps toward storm readiness. To support these efforts, the city will host its annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo, a public event designed to equip the community with essential information and resources. Officials say preparation plays a critical role in minimizing risk and ensuring safety during severe weather. The expo offers residents a chance to learn directly from emergency personnel and local service providers.
The event is free and open to the public. It will offer valuable information, resources, and tools that can help before, during, and after a storm. Attendees can meet with emergency officials and learn how to better protect their families and homes.
This year’s expo will be held on Wednesday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, located at 1930 West 2nd Street in Gulf Shores. Emergency Management Coordinator Brandan Franklin said the event will feature several local businesses and agencies that focus on storm-related services and products.
“A vital part of being prepared is understanding what resources are available,” Franklin said. “This event is set up to provide a one-stop-shop to learn helpful tips and meet local experts.”
Attending vendors include Baldwin EMC, Baldwin EMA, Riviera Utilities, Paris Ace Hardware, Gulf Shores Utilities, Disaster Smart, Island Enclosures, the American Red Cross, Crowder Gulf, and the Alabama Small Business Development Center.
City departments will also be available to answer questions from residents. Gulf Shores property owners who need a 2025–2026 hurricane decal can get one during the expo. Residents must bring a driver’s license and a deed, lease, or utility bill showing their Gulf Shores address.
Up to three decals can be purchased per household at $5 each. For more information on decals, visit www.gulfshoresAL.gov/HurricaneDecal.
