Gulf Shores Accepting Applications for School Board Position

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The City of Gulf Shores is currently accepting applications for a new board member for the Gulf Shores City Board of Education. The selected candidate will serve a five-year term starting June 1, 2025. The deadline to apply is April 4 at 5 p.m.


To be eligible, applicants must be current Gulf Shores residents and meet several requirements. They must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be of good moral character, and not be employed by the school board. They also cannot serve on a private school board.


Additionally, applicants must not be on the National or state sex offender registry and cannot have a felony conviction. These qualifications ensure the selected board member is fit to serve in an educational leadership role.

Completed applications must be submitted in person at the executive office or emailed to
bphelps@gulfshoresal.gov before the April 4 deadline.
