UPDATE July 2, 2020 at 12:50pm - Governor Ivey extends Public Health Orders until September 9, 2020. See full orders below.
“You shouldn’t have to order someone to do what’s best for themselves, their neighbors and loved ones,” Ivey said. “Please wear a mask if you go out in public. Please take COVID-19 precautions every day.”
Ivey reinstated the order she extended which includes maintaining social distancing, stay at home as much as possible and wear a mask in public.
“Your personal responsibility means it’s everyone’s responsibility,” Ivey said. “It takes all of us to be vigilant. We must each do our part. We must do a better job this July 4 holiday than we did on Memorial Day.”
The total number of cases in Alabama has topped 30,000 and deaths have surpassed 900, State Health Officer Dr. Steve Harris said. Currently there are 750 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and another 350 are hospitalized and awaiting test results.
