Third Thursday success grows thanks to early business support

Foley Invites Community to Celebrate Third Thursday Anniversary

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Downtown Foley is celebrating a big milestone this month. The Third Thursday event series turns one year old on June 19. To mark the occasion, organizers are planning a special celebration. Residents and visitors are invited to shop, dine, and enjoy the downtown vibe.

Third Thursdays launched in June 2024 to boost local business and bring people together. Over the past year, the event has grown with more shops joining and the community showing strong support. Organizers say that the momentum will continue into the second year.

“We're incredibly proud of what downtown businesses and the community have built,” said Wes Abrams, President of Foley Main Street. “It takes dedication and heart. With continued support, this tradition will grow even stronger.”

Several businesses helped get Third Thursdays off the ground from the very beginning. Early supporters include Paint Party Studio, Raw Amour Jewelry, Dorothy June Booksellers, Fish River Furnishings and Art Gallery, Feast, and the Foley Art Center.

To kick off year two, Downtown Foley is launching a Summer Bingo Challenge. Bingo cards will be available on June 19 at participating locations. Guests can collect stamps all summer and win prizes.

Each Third Thursday this summer will feature a theme. June is the anniversary kickoff with “Our Big One.” July celebrates patriotism with red, white, and blue. In August, it’s the summer finale and bingo cards are due.

Those who complete their cards will be entered to win $250 in downtown gift cards. The goal is to bring more people downtown and support small businesses.

“Third Thursdays are for everyone,” said Darrelyn Dunmore, Executive Director of Foley Main Street. “Even small actions like a post or a visit help grow our downtown community.”

Third Thursday events happen every month and offer a relaxing way to enjoy downtown Foley. Participating businesses offer discounts, special activities, and more. For full details, visit the
