Orange Beach Boys Basketball Season Ends in Sweet 16 Tournament
Coach Chris Laatsch expressed pride in his team for winning both the regular season area title and the area tournament.
Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Orange Beach’s boys basketball team saw its season end with a loss in the regional tournament in Montgomery. Jackson High School from Clarke County took a Class 4A regional win against Orange Beach on Feb. 18, 54-34. The Lady Makos also played Jackson on the same day and lost, 48-42.
Lee Steele had 10 points and five rebounds for Orange Beach, Miller Day had nine points and three assists, Connor Ford added eight points and five rebounds, and Sutton Rambo had seven points and five rebounds. The Aggies' defense turned over the Makos 18 times to score 23, Coach Chris Laatsch said.
“We are super proud of our boys for another record-setting season for the Makos, Laatsch said. “Most wins in school history (26), undefeated in area play, regular season area champs, and area tournament champions.
This was the Makos' second consecutive regional appearance, and after setting a record for wins at 17 in 2025.
“The team has no Seniors and so they hope to take the successes of this season and build on them for the future,” Laatsch said
Jackson will play New Brockton on Feb. 24 with a trip to Birmingham and the Class 4A final four on the line.
