Elberta, Ala. – (OBA) – The Elberta German Sausage Festival kicks off today, March 29th at 8 am and runs until 5 pm. The Festival takes place at Elberta Town Park. This biannual event, held every March and October, celebrates Elberta's German heritage and supports the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department.

Attendees can enjoy Elberta's famous German sausage and sauerkraut, made from a secret recipe developed by the town's founding fathers. Additional food options include German-style filled cabbage, potato salad, goulash, red beans and rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn, and peanuts.

The festival features continuous entertainment for all ages, including polka, country, contemporary, and German music. Performers such as the Bellview Stumpfiddle Band and the North End Stompers are scheduled to appear. Over 200 arts and crafts vendors will showcase their work, and carnival rides will be available for children.

Proceeds from the festival benefit the Elberta Volunteer Fire Department and contribute to town improvements. Local non-profit organizations also gain from booth sales and parking fees. The festival typically attracts up to 20,000 visitors, with approximately 6,000 pounds of German sausage sold each time.
