Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Get ready to celebrate Mardi Gras in style! Whether you're heading to Orange Beach or Gulf Shores, both cities have announcements regarding closures and parade information to ensure a smooth and festive experience. Below are the details to help you plan your Mardi Gras celebration here on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

Orange3 Beach Mardi Gras Closures

City offices closed on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 13

On Fat Tuesday, February 13, 2024, all non-essential City of Orange Beach offices will be closed for the Mardi Gras holiday. Garbage routes will not be affected and will run as usual.


City offices will reopen for normal business hours on Wednesday, February 14.


The Orange Beach Mardi Gras parade is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Fat Tuesday on Perdido Beach Boulevard, beginning at the traffic signal at Wolf Bay Restaurant, heading east and ending at the intersection of Highway 161 and Perdido Beach Boulevard.


Due to the parade, Perdido Beach Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic from as early as 1 p.m. to as late as 4 p.m. along the parade route. Exact lane closure times will vary leading up to the 2 p.m. start.


Where the median begins on Perdido Beach Boulevard, the parade will move to the eastbound lanes (southside of the beach highway.)

City of Gulf Shores Announces Closures for Mardi Gras

In observance of the Mardi Gras holiday, the City of Gulf Shores will have the following facility closures and changes to regular hours of operations:


  • Police, fire, and other emergency services will remain open to ensure public safety and health.
  • Administrative offices for the City of Gulf Shores will be closed on Tuesday, February 13. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, February 14, at 8 a.m.
  • The Thomas B. Norton Public Library and the Gulf Shores Museum will be closed on Tuesday, February 13. Regular operation hours for both facilities will resume on Wednesday, February 14.
  • The City Store will be closed on Tuesday, February 13. Regular operation hours will resume on Wednesday, February 14.
  • The Bodenhamer Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February
  • 13. The Cultural Center will be closed on Tuesday, February 13. Regular operation hours for the Cultural Center will resume on Wednesday, February 14.
  • The George C. Meyer Tennis Center will be closed on Tuesday, February 13. Courts will be open and available for public use. Regular operation hours will resume on Wednesday, February 14.
  • The pickleball courts located at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex will remain open and available for public use.
  • Republic Services Garbage and Recycling Service will run as scheduled.
  • Yard debris/bulky pickup will not run on Tuesday, February 13. Routes scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, will run on Monday, February 12.
