An Inside Look at Death Investigations

Robertsdale, Ala. – (OBA) – To foster greater community understanding and transparency, the Baldwin County Coroner's Office is inviting residents to participate in its first-ever Citizens’ Academy. Scheduled to take place on April 1, 8, 22, and May 6, from 6 PM to 9 PM, the academy aims to provide an in-depth look into the operations and responsibilities of the coroner's office.


The series of sessions will be held at 22251 Palmer Street, Suite D, Robertsdale, AL 36567, offering attendees a unique opportunity to gain insight into the critical role the coroner's office plays within the community.


The Citizens’ Academy is structured to cover a wide range of topics over four evenings:


  • April 1: The opening session will feature a welcome and an administrative overview, introducing participants to the structure and key functions of the coroner's office.


  • April 8: The second evening will focus on agency partners, highlighting the collaboration between the coroner's office and other law enforcement and public safety agencies.


  • April 22: Attendees will delve into investigative operations and case reviews, offering a closer look at how death investigations are conducted and the challenges faced during the process.


  • May 6: The final session promises a practical scenario, providing participants with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the day-to-day operations of the coroner's office.


Interested individuals are encouraged to register by sending their name, agency or background, email, and phone number to coroner@baldwincountyal.gov. With only 20 seats available, early registration is advised to secure a spot in this informative series.


This initiative represents a step towards demystifying the work of the coroner's office and building stronger connections with the community it serves. Through education and engagement, the Baldwin County Coroner's Office hopes to enhance public awareness and foster a greater sense of trust and collaboration with residents.
