Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Orange Beach city officials are inviting Bear Point residents to take part in a public meeting later this month to address ongoing drainage issues in their community. The session will give residents the chance to share their concerns and learn about upcoming improvement plans. Local leaders emphasized that input from the public is critical to the success of the project, which aims to create long-term solutions for flooding and water flow problems in the area.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, at 6 p.m. at the Orange Beach Community Center, located at 27235 Canal Road. Ahead of the gathering, residents are being asked to complete an online survey about drainage and flooding issues they have observed around their homes.

Thompson Engineering, the firm hired by the city to carry out the drainage study, will collect and review the survey responses before the public session. The survey can be accessed online by clicking here. Residents are encouraged to complete it as soon as possible to ensure their feedback is included.

The goal of the drainage study is to build a detailed hydraulic model of the Bear Point area. Using this model, engineers will be able to identify and prioritize a list of projects that will most effectively improve drainage and reduce flooding risks in the community.

City officials stressed that the public meeting will not only present early findings but will also serve as a way to involve residents in shaping the final recommendations. By contributing feedback through both the survey and the meeting, residents will play an important role in helping the city and Thompson Engineering design improvements that reflect the needs of the neighborhood.
