Free outdoor event scheduled for Mother’s Day weekend

Cailey Whitfield holds the 54th Annual Art in the Park poster featuring her artwork, depicting a bouquet of flowers in vivid shades of red, purple, and pink.

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) —  The Foley Art Center will host the 54th Annual Art in the Park in Heritage Park on Mother’s Day Weekend in downtown Foley. The event is held each year at the intersection of Highways 59 and 98. Planners say the festival will feature more than 80 artists. The event is free and open to the public.

The festival is scheduled for May 9 and May 10, 2026. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Art in the Park is a competitive, juried fine arts show sponsored by the Foley Art Center. Artists will display works in pen and ink, oil, watercolor, pottery, stained glass, wood, porcelain, fused glass, textiles, and jewelry.

A food court will offer a variety of food and beverages for visitors. Organizers say the outdoor setting provides a place for families and friends to stroll through the park and enjoy the displays together. A children’s area will offer free hands-on art activities and face painting. The festival will also feature a children’s art exhibit showcasing work by elementary and middle school students.

Officials said the poster artwork for the following year will be selected from the student exhibit. Cailey Whitfield was chosen as the artist for the 2026 artwork. She attended Foley Middle School and was in seventh grade last year. Whitfield received a framed poster, a gift card, and the Linda Konair Emerging Artist Award. Organizers said she and her family will also receive event T-shirts and are expected to attend and sign them.

The Foley Art Center, founded in 1966, offers cultural programs, grants, and art classes throughout the area. The organization supports local schools serving more than 5,000 students and hosts events year-round.
