Tacky Jacks Set to Host 10th Annual Bloody Mary Run in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores, Ala. — (OBA) — Runners will once again lace up for a Gulf Shores Labor Day weekend tradition as Tacky Jacks hosts the 10th Annual Bloody Mary 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run. The event welcomes competitive athletes, casual walkers, and holiday visitors looking for fun. Organizers said this year’s celebration will blend fitness, food, and football as the community gathers for one of the city’s most spirited races. Both veteran runners and first-timers are invited to take part in this uniquely local tradition.

The event happens Saturday, August 30, at Waterway Village in Gulf Shores, with a start time of 7:30 a.m. The course begins just west of Tacky Jacks, in front of Acme Oyster Bar. A warm-up packet pickup will also be offered on Friday, August 29, from 2 to 6 p.m., as well as the morning of the race between 6 and 7:10 a.m.

The race features a flat and fast course through Gulf Shores city streets and nearby neighborhoods, making it accessible to both seasoned competitors and casual joggers. Organizers expect a strong turnout for the holiday weekend, a time when both fitness and festive spirit run high on the Gulf Coast.

The first 300 registrants will receive a custom sublimated Bloody Mary T-shirt. All participants will get a shirt, although sizes after the first 300 are not guaranteed. With college football season kicking off, runners and walkers are also encouraged to compete for Team Spirit Awards by wearing their favorite school colors.

After the 5K Run and Competitive Walk, racers can stay for one of the area’s liveliest post-race parties. Free beer, food, and Bloody Marys will be served for participants. The celebration will also feature live music and custom age group medal awards honoring top finishers.

Summit Wellness will be on site to help participants recharge with discounted IVs and injections, offering a recovery option after the race. Organizers describe the event as the perfect holiday mix of athletic competition, Gulf Coast culture, and festive entertainment.

Presented by Harley Sports, the race highlights how fitness and fun intersect in Gulf Shores, especially during long holiday weekends. For registration and additional details, participants can visit the official race page at
