Snowbirds Fill Foley Civic Center For Annual Coffee
Welcome Bags, Prizes And Local Representatives Help Winter Guests Feel At Home In Foley

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Hundreds of winter visitors packed the Foley Civic Center for the city’s annual Snowbird Coffee, turning the event into a busy morning of conversation, information and hospitality. Many of the guests were part-time residents who spend the colder months on the Alabama Gulf Coast. City staff, business leaders, and volunteers greeted the crowd and answered questions. The gathering also gave snowbirds a chance to learn more about the community they call their winter home.
The Snowbird Coffee took place Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Foley Civic Center on the second Tuesday in January, the traditional date for the event. Organizers said about 700 snowbirds attended this year’s coffee. Many arrived early to get a seat, pick up information, and enjoy a warm drink with friends.

During the event, seasonal visitors visited with city representatives to learn more about public safety, the new library, the Senior Center, and other city services. They also heard about the Caboose Club, the Art Center, and other local attractions in and around downtown Foley. City officials said the goal was to make sure winter guests know what is available to them while they are in town.
Participants described the coffee as a friendly way to discover Foley and to connect with both residents and other winter visitors. Many said the informal setting made it easy to ask questions and share stories about their time on the Gulf Coast.
One of the highlights each year is a downtown Foley scavenger hunt with a chance to win more than 60 prizes. The hunt sends participants exploring local shops and streets as they search for clues, helping them discover hidden gems around the city. Organizers said the activity turns the morning into a citywide adventure. The scavenger hunt also encourages visitors to spend time in local businesses. Many snowbirds said they enjoyed meeting shop owners and finding new places to visit during the rest of their stay.
To welcome attendees, organizers distributed bags containing coupons, city information, and other helpful items. The bags included maps, brochures, and information on services visitors might need during the winter season.
