When visiting or residing near large bodies of water, it’s clear that waterside dining offers a unique experience. If you’ve ever been on a local boat tour, dolphin cruise, or fishing expedition, you’ve likely encountered the enticing aroma coming from Cobalt Restaurant in Orange Beach, located right next to “The Pass Bridge.” This location is bustling year-round, with summer often bringing waits that are absolutely worth it. Did you know that Cobalt offers a delicious Sunday brunch and lunch menus? Treat yourself to delightful options such as ‘Rockefeller’ oysters or the ‘Combination’ plate featuring all three types of chargrilled oysters, or opt for a raw dozen. Seafood is the highlight here, with choices including shrimp, crab, fish, and more, along with pizzas, chicken dishes, and the classic ‘Certified Angus Beef’ burger made from ground chuck, short rib, and brisket—hand-pattied and grilled. Then there’s the Cobalt Beast Burger, a unique blend of elk, wild boar, wagyu, and bison that's sure to make an impression. Lunch also caters to those with a sweet tooth, offering treats like Creole Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, and Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée. The food is only part of what draws guests to Cobalt; exceptional service, a gift shop, and stunning views both inside and outside make it a must-visit lunch stop this summer. If the description alone isn’t enticing enough, a drive-by with the windows down or a nearby boat ride will surely do the trick. Enjoy your summer waterside dining!

The Gulf State Park isn't just an exceptional destination for camping, exploring, biking, and kayaking. Community and state leaders are dedicated to making it educational, engaging, family focused, and often offer free or under $10 to attend events focused on just that. From now until June 15th, the Park’s Nature Center is offering some fantastic programs. This Tuesday, there is an exciting event called that will have you reaching for the stars. Starting at 1 PM, participants will journey through the solar system, discovering intriguing facts about the planets that orbit the central reason everyone visits the beach—the Sun! Attendees will have the chance to explore unique characteristics of the planets, such as their flaming hot surfaces and opposite cool icy rings, as well as their roles in the solar system. As always, while registration is highly recommended, it is not required for free park events. There is a small fee of $3 to access this planet exploration as a campground entry; however, campground and cabin guests do not have to pay this gate fee. Grab some friends, take a break from the heat, and come learn about the amazing celestial bodies that orbit the warm sun you're finding shade from.

Don’t just hit where 59 ends and the fun begins to hang out. Make use of this opportunity to be an impactful part of the community at the heart of Gulf Shores action, thus making it a grand meeting place for Eco Clean Marine’s Monthly Pick-up at 7:45AM. You don’t have to be a local to be a part of something bigger than our 32-mile island. If you haven't heard of this remarkable nonprofit organization, please visit the website link below to learn more about how you can get involved and read up on the fun they offer with free educational activities for kids and families, the story behind the yellow fish cleaning stations, how to RSVP for this event and more. Gulf Shores welcomes more than six million guests each year, in addition to its residents, all of whom often leave much more than just footprints. Unfortunately, the beaches are not the only areas affected by an overflow of trash and debris. Coolers, truck beds, and careless littering contribute to litter filling the streets, near parking lots, restaurants, and intersections. Eco Clean Marine is dedicated to paying close attention to the overlooked areas—side bushes, spaces between buildings, sidewalks, and more. Their walking volunteers make a point of cleaning these spots, spending the one hour allotted each month to remove as much litter as possible. Eco Clean Marine will provide all the necessary tools, including gloves and buckets, but feel free to bring your own gear and get involved in transforming one person's passion into real global action right here in Gulf Shores.
