Federal grant funds provide professional assistance for Baldwin County families and seniors

Free Tax Preparation Services Launch In Gulf Shores

Orange Beach, Ala. — (OBA) — Local cities in Baldwin County have joined forces with South Alabama RSVP to support residents during the 2026 tax season. This partnership provides professional tax preparation services at no cost to the public. The program relies on a federal grant from the IRS to ensure these services remain free for the community. Local leaders are working together to ensure everyone has access to accurate, timely filing assistance.


IRS-trained and certified volunteers are staffing locations across the region to assist with federal and state returns. These experts aim to reduce the financial burden of paying for professional tax help. "This is an incredible resource for our residents," said Grant Brown, Public Information Officer for the City of Gulf Shores. He noted that tax season can be stressful, and these services provide much-needed peace of mind.


In Orange Beach, the Senior Center continues its tradition of hosting this essential service every year. Residents in the area have access to certified volunteers who can guide them through the filing process. The city strongly encourages all eligible individuals to take advantage of this no-cost opportunity. Appointments are required by calling 251-981-3440. 



To receive help, taxpayers must bring several specific documents to their scheduled appointments. You will need a completed IRS Form 13614-C, which can be downloaded online or obtained at select locations. Be sure to bring last year’s tax return and all current income information, including W-2s and 1099s.


Other requirements include a valid photo ID and Social Security cards for everyone listed on the return. You must also provide a total of all itemized deductions, such as medical expenses, taxes, and charitable gifts. Proof of health insurance and birth dates for all dependents are necessary for a complete filing.


While the program handles most standard returns, some specialty forms may be out of scope. If you are filing for a deceased spouse, remember to bring the 2025 death certificate.
