Sporting event raises funds for families facing homelessness

Summerdale, Ala. – (OBA) –   Family Promise of Baldwin County is organizing its Inaugural Clay Shoot, a fundraising event supporting homeless families with children. The event will take place at Bushy Creek Clays in Perdido Alabama and is open to the public, offering a day of sport shooting and community support for a great cause.


The clay shoot is scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants will compete in teams of four, with prizes awarded to the top three teams. The event also includes a Shotgun Raffle, valued at approximately $1,500, along with breakfast and lunch.

Family Promise of Baldwin County provides shelter, job assistance, and other resources to families experiencing homelessness. The fundraiser aims to support these efforts by engaging local businesses, community members, and shooting enthusiasts in a day of competitive sporting clays.


Team registration is now open, and sponsorship opportunities are available for individuals and businesses looking to support the cause. Donations are also welcome for those unable to attend. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Family Promise’s housing and support programs.

The suspect, 52-year-old Patrick Odell Levens from Pensacola, Florida, had used a power tool to cut a hole in the back wall to get inside.
