City Approves Plan to Expand Improvements at Aaronville Park
Council approves larger facilities, pavilion replacement, and new ballfield fencing

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Foley officials are moving forward with new plans to improve Aaronville Park in the city’s southwest area. The Foley City Council approved an updated project in a meeting earlier this month, that will expand earlier upgrade plans. The work will include a larger restroom building, a new pavilion, and additional fencing on one of the park’s ballfields. The improvements are aimed at making the park more accessible and enjoyable for residents.
The city had originally approved an upgrade plan in 2023 but decided to make changes before work began. Park officials said the decision came after re-evaluating community needs. Instead of sticking with the original design, the city will now install a larger, prefabricated restroom building with facilities that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Foley Parks and Recreation Department said accessibility and space were top priorities.
Director Jeff Lee explained that the revised plan will also replace the park’s existing pavilion and add new fencing at a baseball field. Lee said city staff will complete some of the work, but certain tasks, such as demolishing the current restroom building and preparing the site, will require hiring outside contractors. Foley will accept bids for those portions of the project.
City officials said they expect the upgrades to enhance both park safety and convenience for visitors. By including ADA-compliant restrooms and improving recreational spaces, the city hopes to better serve the local community and encourage more residents to use the park. Construction is expected to begin once bid contracts are awarded and site work is scheduled.
