Orange Beach Meeting to Discuss Future Projects

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – The Orange Beach Planning Commission will meet on April 8 with a work session at 3 p.m. and the regular session at 4 p.m.
One item on the agenda seeks approval for a 26-slip marina on the Intracoastal Waterway at 22321 Canal Road for Bayview Investments an LLC located in Fairhope and incorporated in September of 2023. It’s on the waterway west of Niki’s Restaurant.
During the meeting, the commission will also discuss:
- A request to repeal two planned unit developments formerly connected to the failed Bama Bayou project east of the toll bridge plaza and rezoning it back to general business. It will also hear a second request from The Wharf Landing for approval of subdivision of the same 105 acres into three lots.
- Combining two lots in Azalea Village into one lot at 4282 and 4284 Azalea Street for Lisa Burdette.
- A request from Community Development to modify the language in the code regarding water recreational rentals.
- A second request from Community Development to modify language regarding requirements for highway frontage on the north side of Canal Road from Oak Street to William Silvers Parkway.
- Changing the code regarding sign fees to be consistent with an ordinance passed in 2018.
- Liquid Life’s request to build a 22,100-square-foot operations center on 4404 and 4422 Canal Square Lane the road that runs west of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts
- A request from Keel Storage to approve a site plan for a 4,500-square-foot storage building at 27103 Canal Road or just east of Sam’s.
- A request from property owners at 28622 and 28675 Sampson Avenue to relocate the lot line didn’t meet the second deadline and will again be deferred.

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – At around 2:45 a.m., Foley police responded to a burglary call on State Highway 59. Officers found a man inside the business and apprehended him.
The suspect, 52-year-old Patrick Odell Levens from Pensacola, Florida, had used a power tool to cut a hole in the back wall to get inside.

Gulf Shores, Ala. – (OBA) – The popular Good Life Ride cycling event is set to return to Gulf State Park on May 10, 2025. The annual event, which attracts cycling enthusiasts from across the Southeast, will feature multiple route options designed to showcase the natural beauty of Alabama's coastal region.

Foley, Ala. – (OBA) – Travel on West Peachtree Avenue will soon be smoother after the Foley City Council approved road repairs. The council voted to fix the road near Foley Airport last week. Jeff Phillips, the city construction projects manager, explained that collapsed metal storm drainage pipes buried alongside the road had damaged the street.
