Woman Stabbed With a Screwdriver Leads To Foley Man’s Arrest
Police say a 37-year-old man faces multiple charges following an assault call in Foley.

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Officers in Foley responded Wednesday afternoon to a violent domestic incident that ended in a brief standoff and an arrest. Police say a woman was stabbed with a screwdriver on Dailey Lane, prompting an emergency call around 2 p.m. Responding officers began searching for the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Bruce Sterling Williams, who was believed to be inside the home. What followed was a tense but contained situation as police worked to secure the area and take the suspect into custody.
The incident occurred on March 25, when officers arrived and tried to contact Williams. Despite repeated police commands, he refused to leave the house or communicate with law enforcement. Officers kept working to peacefully persuade the suspect before calling for help from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
After multiple warnings, a K-9 unit from the sheriff’s office was deployed to help locate Williams inside the residence. The police dog successfully found him hiding within the structure. Officers moved in and took him into custody without further incident. Williams sustained minor injuries during the apprehension and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police say Williams now faces charges of second-degree assault and domestic violence by strangulation. Following treatment, he was booked into custody on these charges. Investigators have not released additional details about the victim’s injuries, but the case remains under review.
The Foley Police Department expressed gratitude to the assisting agencies after the arrest. “We’d like to thank the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case,” the department said in a statement. “We appreciate the camaraderie we have with our fellow agencies to quickly respond to situations like yesterday’s.”
