Turquoise Place Expands with New Family-Friendly Features

Orange Beach, Ala. – (OBA) – Turquoise Place in Orange Beach recently celebrated the grand opening of its new amenities deck at the beachfront condominium resort. This deck introduces various features aimed at enhancing guest experiences.


Among the highlights is a 300-foot water slide that starts from the top of a new parking deck and spirals down to the C Tower pool. For children, a rooftop splash pad has been installed.


The deck also caters to guests interested in leisure activities with a new putting green, perfect for those looking to improve their golf skills while enjoying a birds-eye-view of the Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, an outdoor amphitheater will host live entertainment and movie screenings.


Turquoise Place plans to introduce car charging stations soon.


Candace Burgin, the Association Director at Turquoise Place, expressed enthusiasm about the new amenities, believing they will provide guests with new experiences.

The Orange Beach Makos Academics, Arts, and Athletics Club (MAAAC) awarded $10,000 in scholarships to five deserving high school seniors. The 2024 MAAAC Scholarship was distributed equally among the recipients, each receiving $2,000 to aid in their academic pursuits. MAAAC President, Matt Fetner, emphasized the club's commitment to fostering academic and personal growth among students. "These scholarships are a testament to the community's support for our youth," Fetner stated, underscoring the importance of the financial aid in promoting educational advancement.

Tragic End to I-10 Standoff, Parts of I-10 West Bound Are Closed

A standoff on Interstate 10 in Baldwin County, Alabama, ended tragically when a suspect from Florida, wanted for a possible homicide, took their own life. The incident occurred near the Malbis exit, causing the closure of the westbound lanes near mile marker 40 for an extended period.

Gulf Shores police officer Gabe Trujilo has had a knack for being in the right place at the right time in his law enforcement career and in his previous post with the Montgomery Police Department. “During his time in Montgomery, he was awarded three life-saving awards, two mayoral commendation letters, the medal of valor, the officer of the month award and was awarded and recognized as the 2023 officer of the year,” Police Chief Ed Delmore said.
